About the Programme
IIM Sambalpur treats the training and development of working professionals as a core part of its management education offering. The Institute runs a wide range of MDPs on futuristic and contemporary themes across strategy, human resources, marketing, finance, operations and information technology, blending advanced learning with application-based practice.
General management programmes support executives moving into managerial roles at any career stage, building a rounded understanding of interconnected management functions.
In-company or customised MDPs are designed around a client's specific needs — based on a needs analysis and understanding of industry context, with content developed to simulate an appropriate setting. These programmes are conducted on campus or at another mutually agreed location, in online or offline format.

MDP Programme Details
IIM Sambalpur offers MDPs across all functional areas of management, based on company requirements. In-company or customised MDPs are training programmes designed for a specific set of participants, developed through a needs-analysis of the client organisation and an understanding of industry requirements, then delivered on campus or at another mutually agreed location, in online or offline format.
Programme duration ranges from 2 days to 6 months, depending on the requirement and complexity of the topic covered.

Art of Self-Leadership and Managerial Effectiveness — Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL)
A five-day programme for MCL senior management, developed around a deep understanding of the coal industry's operational complexity. Delivered through case studies, role plays, interactive group discussions, assignments, management exercises, lectures and experiential learning, focused on building leadership competency and resilience under pressure.
Strategic Leadership for Senior Management — MCL
A five-day programme for 25 MCL senior management participants, delivered through case studies, assignments and classroom discussion, again focused on leadership competency and resilience.
Saksham — Leadership Competency Framework — IOCL
IIM Sambalpur partnered with the Indian Oil Institute of Petroleum Management (IiPM), IOCL's apex Learning & Development Centre, to deliver a six-day Leadership Development Programme (21–26 June 2021) for IOCL middle-level managers. Built around IOCL's "Saksham" framework — 8 key leadership competencies for successful operations — the platform-based training combined case studies, experiential learning and group tasks.
Enhancing Academic Leadership Skills — CBSE Principals & Vice Principals
A short-duration training and mentoring programme for Principals and Vice Principals of CBSE-affiliated schools in Odisha, aimed at equipping academic leaders to deliver competency- and value-based education and build the ecosystems needed to prepare students for future leadership.
